Congrats on your new role! Now, please figure out what it is

If I had a dollar for every time a client heard this, I would have, well, a few dozen dollars.

This situation, where somebody gets promoted, but doesn’t exactly get a role description is exceptionally common. And sometimes, they are still expected to do their old job whilst grappling with their new one.
